Products description
In September 2012, Tiefenort, a tiny village in the former Grand Duchy of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, held its 875th anniversary.
During the week of celebration, there was an exhibition about emigration from the Grand Duchy in the 19th century, the first of its kind ever in Thuringia. The exhibition described how a great number of people left their homeland. Most of them never saw Germany again. Over the generations, they were mostly forgotten in Tiefenort, while their descendants in other countries continued to seek information about their roots.
This book serves as a supplement to the exhibition and provides additional statistics, photographs, passenger list extracts, census information, emigration documents, family letters, extracts from family trees, and much more.
